H. Starling

A4 White Cartridge Paper. HB & 2B pencils.

I was interested in portraiture earlier this year since I was excited by the satisfaction to be able to draw a portrait that actually looks like the person. A friend of mine kindly allowed me to draw a portrait of her and so I did. The process took me a week or two since my free time after school was limited. What perhaps turned out great was the texture of the hair as I think I was able to create the wavy sensation – the way it flows. I think it would be a good idea to work on the tones of the shades on her skin as they seem quite rough, hard and don’t really blend that well – maybe that’s what I should work on next time.

Cheers.
